The message that Dr Seuss is giving to the readers in The Lorax is about our responsibilities The Once-ler did not care for the environment because he cut down the truffula trees and made them into thneeds.Then the bar-ba-loots could not eat the fruit off the truffula trees.He sold the thneeds and got money and with the money he built bigger factores.Lots of smoke came out of the factores and made the air all dirty.The swoome -swans could not breath.So they had to leave is well as the bar-ba-loots. Then all the junk from the factores went into the pond were the humming fish lived and their pond became dirty. They could not swim in the water so they had to leave as well.Unless we keep the world tidy for the next generation.
